2016 for The London String Quartet!

2016 has flown by for the London string quartet but it has been an amazing year of nearly 100 performances throughout London, England and abroad for Niche London String Quartet! Highlights included playing for HRH The Duchess of Cambridge and travelling to France to perform for one of Britain’s most popular newspapers at Euro 2016 in the same week of this Summer! Playing for more beautiful weddings than ever before with every single one a different mix of our modern wedding music and classical string quartet favourites has been a privilege. Also surprise engagement proposals in London, birthday parties, corporate launches, events and parties.

Top wedding songs for this year’s wedding ceremony entrance music seemed to be:

romantic ‘All of Me’ by John Legend,

painfully beautiful ‘I Giorni’ by Einaudi,

and of course the always wonderful and touching string quartet music ‘Pachelbel’s Canon’.

But of course we have had an amazing mix of song choices, one that particularly stood out for us was when the string quartet played for a bride and groom who first saw us supporting their favourite rock band at The Underworld in 2012 and then asked us to come play their favourite song ‘I Created’ for their wedding too!

Favourite ideas for the best wedding ceremony music exit includes:

Niche Quartet playing ‘Stand By Me’,

Pharrell William’s ‘Happy’,

classical Beatles favourite ‘All You Need is Love’

and of course Bruno Mars ‘Marry You’!

Looking ahead 2017 dates have already been booking up with wedding ceremony music and reception performances for the string quartet, trio and duo across London and the majority of Spring and Summer weekends have already been reserved – if you are wedding planning and would like the best quality London entertainment for your wedding day do enquire soon! We hate having to turn couples away.

Our next performances are at Asia House in Marylebone, Moor Park in Rickmansworth, and The Cafe Royal in Picadilly – Let’s see if we can be the busiest London String Quartet ever and play for over 100 weddings and events in 2017!

Now the leaves are falling off the trees Niche London String Quartet start looking forward to their Christmas entertainment and events packages! Thinking back to last years Christmas events in London and what new string quartet Christmas music we can learn and perform this year!

Last December was a flurry of Xmas performances for the string quartet across London. Beautiful winter weddings at some of our favourite London wedding venues and fun Christmas parties and masked gala balls!

Particularly wonderful winter wedding music was played by the string quartet at The Asylum Peckham, 30 Pavilion Road Knightsbridge, The Corinthia in Embankment, Mayfair’s Carlton Club and The Royal Aeronautical Society, Chelsea Town Hall and we finished our Christmas bookings at Pembroke Lodge in Richmond.

Also Niche London String Quartet loved opening the Ministry of Sound’s Winter Event with a modern music package and playing an intimate candlelit party at Spitalfields with our special Christmas version of ‘Niche Live Jukebox’ for AirBnb!

We can’t wait to perform all our fun string quartet modern and classical Christmas music this year for our wedding couples and corporate events. See all our feedback from our 2015 Christmas clients below and book the London String Quartet for your fun Christmas entertainment today!

Niche String Quartet at Pembroke Lodge

As we come to the end of a very busy summer of 45 wedding music performances for the string quartet, string trio and string duo we thought it would be nice to do a little series of wedding blog posts on the top London wedding venues we play at most often!

First in our series has to be the wedding venue in Richmond Park Pembroke Lodge as Niche London String Quartet played wedding music there 7 times this Summer providing quartet music for ceremonies, wedding receptions and the breakfast – In July it felt like our second home and what a home to enjoy!

There are 2 parts of Pembroke Lodge where you can have your wedding, either the more intimate setting of the upstairs rooms of The Russell Suite, also enjoying the lawns to the side, or The Belvedere, getting to enjoy the wonderful views of the terrace for your wedding reception.

We tend to recommend Niche London String Trio or String Duo for weddings in The Russell Suite and we usually play for wedding in The Belvedere as a string trio and string quartet. This year our brides and grooms had wonderful summer wedding weather and we played outside on the terrace for every wedding reception!

Every one of Niche’s weddings at Pembroke Lodge has been unique, with the individual stylings and decorations being complimented by Niche Quartet playing the bride and groom’s perfect soundtrack throughout the wedding. The string quartet wedding musicians played purely Disney music for one wedding ceremony and reception, another glamourous bride really loved to hear the Game of Thrones theme tune before she made her entrance,  a Niche groom ran to us to say our performance was more than he ever could have imagined when the string quartet played his special request Por Una Cabeza during his wedding reception – We do love seeing our couples and their guests enjoying our music!!

We visited Pembroke in the last Thursday for a wedding ceremony where the guests sung along to us playing Mr Brightside for the newlywed’s exit and our next performance is booked for October and per usual we can’t wait!

Niche London String Quartet accompany a Royal Entrance!

One of 2016’s highlights Niche London String Quartet provided music for the Duchess of Cambridge and her entrance to SportsAids 40th Anniversary Charity Event!

The string quartet has been enjoying performing and providing the best quality entertainment for a whole raft of wonderful Summer parties, corporate events, and July has broken a new record for the number of wedding music performances our London musicians have played!

But one particular highlight in Niche Quartet’s busy calendar this year is being asked to play our classical and modern string quartet music for SportsAid’s 40th anniversary event at Kensington Palace hosted by their patron HRH The Duchess of Cambridge.

We were thrilled to hear we had been highly recommended to SportsAid by a previous client of ours and excited to accompany their big event celebrating 40 years of their wonderful charity work. The string quartet provided an ambience of light and energetic music to match the sports displays of some of our country’s newest Olympic athletes and the arrival of famous sports-stars to the front of the palace.

As the guests gathered the string quartet started to play a favourite classic, Vivaldi’s 4 seasons, to accompany the entrance of HRH The Duchess of Cambridge – Experience the big moment with Niche London String Quartet’s live music & watch the video below!

Stylish London String Quartet Wedding Music

Niche London Quartet at Natural history museum weddingNiche London String Quartet had a fantastic winter of weddings and events and now in 2016 we have played for some of the most stylish and unforgettable weddings in London – here is the story of 2 weddings we played for recently to give you some wedding music ideas.

One Saturday morning we set off to visit St Monica’s Church in Hoxton to play music for a church wedding in the centre of London. The bride had chosen a mix of modern and classical quartet music to set the atmosphere as guests arrived and took their seats in the stunning surroundings. For her big wedding entrance she had Niche London Quartet play our version of Moonriver – such a timeless  and beautiful song! Then as the newlyweds went to sign the register she had ever so cool choices of modern wedding music performed to entertain her guests – modern favourites such as I’m Yours, Mr Brightside and Moondance. Then to celebrate their announcement as man and wife the string quartet joined the applause with the energetic Marry You by Bruno Mars!

For the evening we travelled across town to London’s famous Natural History Museum for the string quartet’s very own wedding version of Night at The Museum! Niche String Quartet had been hired to provide 2 separate performances – the first was an acoustic set of classical and modern string quartet music for the entrance of the guests into the wedding reception, welcoming them into Waterhouse Way which is filled with complete fossils of prehistoric sea animals!

Niche string quartet then moved into position for the second part of the evening which was an amplified performance of the probably the most well known string quartet wedding music piece of all time – Pachelbel’s Canon. This performance was the pivotal moment in the entrance procession to the wedding breakfast, first the bride and groom’s families entered to traditional Indian wedding music and then the Groom made his big entrance down one side of the famous staircase into the Natural History Museum’s Hintze Hall (where the Diplodocus lives!) accompanied by a thrilling performance of drummers, then as his Bride came down to join him we played the beautiful Pachelbel’s Canon in D for the most romantic and perfect entrance to the hall below.

A wonderful wedding filled day for our London wedding musicians and another story to cherish!

Christmas event entertainment ideas

Niche London String Quartet are looking forward to a busy December of Christmas events and we also have 10 Winter Weddings booked for the 3 weeks leading up to Christmas!

Now the winter nights are drawing in and you are thinking about musical entertainment for your Christmas event or Corporate party we thought we would share some ideas for Christmas event music to help with ideas for your event…

One Day In the Life of a busy Christmas Events Musician!

The Boston Consulting Group hired Niche String Quartet to come in to their offices just off Oxford Street as a big surprise to treat their workers to a morning of fabulous classical music – It was great to see the surprise on everyone’s faces as they entered the building and we kept the music upbeat and light hearted throughout the morning as they enjoyed their celebration of a great year.

BCG’s Sandra wrote to us afterwards saying,

“I just wanted to say a massive ‘thank you’ to you, Antonia, Michael and Gabor for such a wonderful performance on Friday. Everyone I have talked to mentioned your quartet and how beautifully you played. Such a lovely way to start a morning in the office! I sincerely hope we get the opportunity to work with you again in the near future.”

London Christmas Events Music

Later that same day we travelled into the city to the Museum of the order of St John to play a mix of Modern Christmas music for Alpha Consulting’s Christmas champagne reception.

After their delicious dinner and speeches we played a 2nd set of Xmas music for their event – this time we were playing Traditional Carols to go with the mulled wine and mince pies and providing our Niche Live Jukebox package guests were encouraged to request their favourite carol and even to sing along – It was huge fun for us and the guests were absolutely thrilled, singing favourites like We Wish You a Merry Christmas and Deck the Halls!
