The quartet have just come back from playing at a lovely wedding ceremony and reception at One Great George Street in the heart of Westminster this weekend…we’ll tell you more about that later, their special request and how their guests were thrilled…but here is a bit of a throwback post showing why we love playing at weddings so much!

Niche London String Quartet and Trio received a lovely message from one of our happy brides (and new Mrs!) – we created an arrangement of The Cure’s Just Like Heaven to be played during the ceremony, as the happy couple were becoming officially Man and Wife. It was a beautiful wedding with beautiful string wedding music to match in the University Women’s Club Library, Mayfair.

Here is some of what Jacqueline had to say,

“I just wanted to say we were absolutely blown away by you guys during our ceremony and could not be happier with the music. The Cure arrangement was so beautiful and special to us, thank you.”

We really enjoy playing for weddings, but hearing back from our clients and knowing that we made their day really is the best feeling!

Niche London String Quartet played for a wonderful ceremony and champagne reception in the heart of Mayfair last weekend. We really enjoyed the decor, atmosphere and grandeur of The Savile Club! The string quartet also enjoyed the wedding music choices for the ceremony:

We have been so blessed to visit all these wonderful venues, to play for all these wonderful weddings, and at venues where we visit several times a year we have become firm friends with the staff who helps us create flawless performances time and time again. Niche Quartet also has several favourite registrars who we bump into and work with all across South West London, sometimes several times a week!

June 2014 outdid May as our busiest month yet, then August took over…now we are looking forward to our busiest ever month in September!!

Niche – The London String Quartet, String Trio and Duo have all been out and about across London visiting the most beautiful wedding venues this summer!

One of the wedding highlights of June was visiting Pembroke Lodge in Richmond to provide string quartet wedding ceremony and reception music. The couple chose a great mix of traditional and modern for their wedding ceremony music:

Bride’s Entrance: Pachelbel’s Canon
Signing of the register: I Giorni, Fly me to the Moon, It Must be love
The big exit as Mr and Mrs: All You Need is Love

and afterward during the reception guests danced and clapping for us as we played modern quartet music by the Beatles, Queen, and one of our newest arrangements requests for Mr Brightside.

Another excellent June wedding for the London String Quartet was at the Dorchester Penthouse where we provided a performance of Fields of Gold for the processional as the bride entered and once again the lovely All You Need is Love for the Recessional.

We also visited gorgeous top venues like Chandos House near Regents Street, Painshill Park in Surrey and Temple, Holland Park and more. Soon we will do another update with some of our favourite July Weddings and venues!

Niche London String Quartet has been so busy these past 3 months, not only playing for weddings, parties and the hugely exciting NHS Awards Ceremony (More on that below!) but also preparing for a big list of spring and summer booking by writing and rehearsing all the new music requests!

At the end of February Niche – The London String Quartet travelled to the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre to provide the London entertainment for the NHS Awards and the NHS Leadership Academy. For this evening the string quartet were providing our special amplified musical performance for corporate entertainment and were plugged into the ballroom room holding the champagne reception and the gorgeous star filled hall for dinner so the whole venue was filled with music and an atmosphere of anticipation from the very beginning.  

As more than 500 guests filled the venue they stopped to take photos with Niche London Quartet and also to make some special requests. The mood was electric and Niche Quartet kept the energy going all evening with performances of the latest chart hits and classical favourites. Just before the awards ceremony was due to start, as the string quartet’s big finish, Niche played “We are the Champions” and the excited guests filled the room with applause which set the scene perfectly for the award winners to be announced!

These past months we have added lots of new modern wedding songs like Bruno Mars ‘Just The Way You Are’, which was written as the special request for Niche String Trio’s performance at Warren House in March. Niche played for 2.5hrs at the intimate and lovely wedding reception on a beautiful sunny day in Surrey. The children and guests were thrilled with the bride’s choice of mainly modern wedding songs with some classical favourites mixed in. By the end of the wedding reception the guests and all the children were dancing away and making requests for their favourite songs to be played. A throughly enjoyable performance for us.
