Wedding String Quartet for the manager of the London Symphony Orchestra

Our latest Bride to chose Niche London to be the string quartet for her wedding day was the manager of the London Symphony Orchestra – a lady who truly knows good music when she hears it!! It was a pleasure to specially arrange her favourite piece ‘Marry Me’ from classic film ‘My Best Friend’s Wedding’ for her walk down the aisle (our rendition brought tears to her eyes for the perfect unforgettable entrance to her wedding ceremony). We then helped the celebrations begin by playing our wedding string quartet version of The Beatles  ‘All Your Need is Love’ for the happy newlyweds exit down the wedding aisle as the new Mr&Mrs S!

For the wedding reception at perfect rustic wedding venue Tewin Bury Farm we played from our range of up-beat modern string quartet music including songs from Ed Sheeran, Adele, Jason Mraz, Ellie Goulding, Bruno Mars and Beyonce to name just a few! Guests were thrilled with our wedding string quartet music, filming their favourite songs and dancing with champagne in hand.

Niche London String Quartet also provided the perfect event music for a London film premiere, more beautiful and utterly unique wedding ceremonies, arranged music for a huge charity event in a London Palace and a remembrance service in March but that will have to wait for our next exciting event filled blog post!

String Quartet Hire quick guide!

Seeing as we are specialists in string quartet hire for wedding music we thought we would share some quick pointers to London string quartet hire for your wedding! What is important to look for when researching string quartet hire?

1) Experience

We all love social media to keep up with our friends and who doesn’t love Pinterest for wedding planning! Have a look through the string quartet’s profiles and blogs (see ours to the left!) to see what latest performances they have been up to – some string quartet’s only play a couple of times a month together in peak wedding season. Where as the best London musicians for hire will play together several times a week all year!

2) Professional Musicians

Sadly there are groups put together by agencies or ones who pop up on the scene who are made up of musicians who have never met before, or non-pros playing as a hobby that just can’t provide the quality of an established group. For a stress free wedding booking from start to finish hire a quartet with lots of experience and 100% professional musicians. From Niche String Quartet’s experience of playing at 100s of weddings every year, organising and looking after things perfectly from the first enquiry takes a lot of hard work and you need lots of experience to make sure you can create the perfect bespoke experience every-time!

3) Do they have everything they need?

Seen a group of talented musicians? Great! What makes a great string quartet for hire for weddings?

  • Insurance – A lot of top wedding venues require at least £10million Public Liability Insurance
  • Quality Equipment – For the best possible sound quality (to bring tears of happiness to your guests’ eyes!) Niche Quartet’s fine instruments are worth more than a brand new car…each! For amplified performances we have equipment worth over £2000 that is fully PAT tested ready for use at any type of venue
  • Music – Do they have enough varied music to entertain your guests of all ages for hours? Is there that one song that you dream of walking down the aisle to – can they arrange to learn this song for you? Perhaps you need a certain type of string quartet music to fit your wedding theme. See our repertoire list filled with fantastic classical and modern wedding music, film music and more!
  • Style Are they presentable and flexible to fit with a formal black tie event, a Midsummer Summers Night dream themed ceremony (yes we have dressed the part at The Globe no less!) a Moulin Rouge party or a Disney Themed wedding!
  • Love Most importantly do they look like they love what they are doing! Helping couple’s have an unforgettable wedding, entertaining guests with live music performances that they have never seen the likes of before and making that once in a lifetime walk up and down the aisle perfect!

This wedding string quartet for hire love making the once in a lifetime moment as your walk down the aisle perfect.

Niche Quartet play for surprise engagement then wedding ceremony:

Last year Joe commissioned Niche Quartet’s violin duo to play for his surprise engagement proposal to Nancy and play her favourite Kate Rusby song  ‘Elfin Knight’. The proposal was a great success and last weekend Joe hired Niche Quartet again to be their wedding musicians! The Mr and Mrs to be chose a beautiful wedding venue the string quartet plays in often – Caroline Garden’s Chapel, The Asylum in Peckham! We performed Elfin Knight once again as Nancy walked down the aisle and many a glistening eye could be seen in the congregation as Nancy skipped into Joe’s arms.

For the end of the ceremony Joe and Nancy had asked if we could arrange and learn upbeat Marie’s Wedding for their exit down the aisle together – the perfect London wedding music to match the rustic and vintage style wedding decor and styling.

We feel so lucky to have been a big part of their story – engagement to wedding with Niche London Wedding String Quartet!

2016 for The London String Quartet!

2016 has flown by for the London string quartet but it has been an amazing year of nearly 100 performances throughout London, England and abroad for Niche London String Quartet! Highlights included playing for HRH The Duchess of Cambridge and travelling to France to perform for one of Britain’s most popular newspapers at Euro 2016 in the same week of this Summer! Playing for more beautiful weddings than ever before with every single one a different mix of our modern wedding music and classical string quartet favourites has been a privilege. Also surprise engagement proposals in London, birthday parties, corporate launches, events and parties.

Top wedding songs for this year’s wedding ceremony entrance music seemed to be:

romantic ‘All of Me’ by John Legend,

painfully beautiful ‘I Giorni’ by Einaudi,

and of course the always wonderful and touching string quartet music ‘Pachelbel’s Canon’.

But of course we have had an amazing mix of song choices, one that particularly stood out for us was when the string quartet played for a bride and groom who first saw us supporting their favourite rock band at The Underworld in 2012 and then asked us to come play their favourite song ‘I Created’ for their wedding too!

Favourite ideas for the best wedding ceremony music exit includes:

Niche Quartet playing ‘Stand By Me’,

Pharrell William’s ‘Happy’,

classical Beatles favourite ‘All You Need is Love’

and of course Bruno Mars ‘Marry You’!

Looking ahead 2017 dates have already been booking up with wedding ceremony music and reception performances for the string quartet, trio and duo across London and the majority of Spring and Summer weekends have already been reserved – if you are wedding planning and would like the best quality London entertainment for your wedding day do enquire soon! We hate having to turn couples away.

Our next performances are at Asia House in Marylebone, Moor Park in Rickmansworth, and The Cafe Royal in Picadilly – Let’s see if we can be the busiest London String Quartet ever and play for over 100 weddings and events in 2017!

Niche String Quartet at Pembroke Lodge

As we come to the end of a very busy summer of 45 wedding music performances for the string quartet, string trio and string duo we thought it would be nice to do a little series of wedding blog posts on the top London wedding venues we play at most often!

First in our series has to be the wedding venue in Richmond Park Pembroke Lodge as Niche London String Quartet played wedding music there 7 times this Summer providing quartet music for ceremonies, wedding receptions and the breakfast – In July it felt like our second home and what a home to enjoy!

There are 2 parts of Pembroke Lodge where you can have your wedding, either the more intimate setting of the upstairs rooms of The Russell Suite, also enjoying the lawns to the side, or The Belvedere, getting to enjoy the wonderful views of the terrace for your wedding reception.

We tend to recommend Niche London String Trio or String Duo for weddings in The Russell Suite and we usually play for wedding in The Belvedere as a string trio and string quartet. This year our brides and grooms had wonderful summer wedding weather and we played outside on the terrace for every wedding reception!

Every one of Niche’s weddings at Pembroke Lodge has been unique, with the individual stylings and decorations being complimented by Niche Quartet playing the bride and groom’s perfect soundtrack throughout the wedding. The string quartet wedding musicians played purely Disney music for one wedding ceremony and reception, another glamourous bride really loved to hear the Game of Thrones theme tune before she made her entrance,  a Niche groom ran to us to say our performance was more than he ever could have imagined when the string quartet played his special request Por Una Cabeza during his wedding reception – We do love seeing our couples and their guests enjoying our music!!

We visited Pembroke in the last Thursday for a wedding ceremony where the guests sung along to us playing Mr Brightside for the newlywed’s exit and our next performance is booked for October and per usual we can’t wait!

Stylish London String Quartet Wedding Music

Niche London Quartet at Natural history museum weddingNiche London String Quartet had a fantastic winter of weddings and events and now in 2016 we have played for some of the most stylish and unforgettable weddings in London – here is the story of 2 weddings we played for recently to give you some wedding music ideas.

One Saturday morning we set off to visit St Monica’s Church in Hoxton to play music for a church wedding in the centre of London. The bride had chosen a mix of modern and classical quartet music to set the atmosphere as guests arrived and took their seats in the stunning surroundings. For her big wedding entrance she had Niche London Quartet play our version of Moonriver – such a timeless  and beautiful song! Then as the newlyweds went to sign the register she had ever so cool choices of modern wedding music performed to entertain her guests – modern favourites such as I’m Yours, Mr Brightside and Moondance. Then to celebrate their announcement as man and wife the string quartet joined the applause with the energetic Marry You by Bruno Mars!

For the evening we travelled across town to London’s famous Natural History Museum for the string quartet’s very own wedding version of Night at The Museum! Niche String Quartet had been hired to provide 2 separate performances – the first was an acoustic set of classical and modern string quartet music for the entrance of the guests into the wedding reception, welcoming them into Waterhouse Way which is filled with complete fossils of prehistoric sea animals!

Niche string quartet then moved into position for the second part of the evening which was an amplified performance of the probably the most well known string quartet wedding music piece of all time – Pachelbel’s Canon. This performance was the pivotal moment in the entrance procession to the wedding breakfast, first the bride and groom’s families entered to traditional Indian wedding music and then the Groom made his big entrance down one side of the famous staircase into the Natural History Museum’s Hintze Hall (where the Diplodocus lives!) accompanied by a thrilling performance of drummers, then as his Bride came down to join him we played the beautiful Pachelbel’s Canon in D for the most romantic and perfect entrance to the hall below.

A wonderful wedding filled day for our London wedding musicians and another story to cherish!
